About our Region
The Victorian Central Region extends from Mildura to Melbourne, and Ballarat to Benalla. A growing Region, it currently has around 300 registered alpaca studs making up approximately 10% of all Australian breeders.
The Region aims to cater for all breeders through an extensive calendar of events program, which includes shows, displays, open days and training events. Where possible, the Region attempts to marry its activities with existing community events so as to attract a wide audience. Major events include Seymour Alternative Farming Expo, Creswick Fleece Show, Kyneton Fiesta and Fleece Show, Victorian Colourbration, Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show along with Shows in Wodonga, Ballarat, Seymour, Wangaratta and Bendigo.
The Region prides itself in actively promoting the alpaca industry and encouraging its members. It has annual alpaca and fleece awards for both Huacayas and Suris together with incentive awards for first time showers and young breeders.
